A unique experience

During our vacation in Greece we wanted to spend some time in the Saronic gulf, visiting some islands as well as some places of interest like, Epidaurus and Nafplion. We searched hard for organised tours. The only we found were some big boats offering day cruises in some Saronic islands which allowed only a couple of hours in each island, time not sufficient for what we wanted. As we searched we discovered Alegria-yachting. The description they provided on their site of the three day tour they offered sounded very good and the price listed seemed very reasonable considering we would have the whole sailing boat to ourselves (5 people).We decided to send the company an email to enquire more information. Almost immediately we received a reply with all the useful information we asked for. So we decided to book and this proved to be an excellent idea. In these days we visited 3 beautiful islands (Poros, Agistri and Aegina) and 3 must-visit places (temple of Afaia in Aegina, ancient theatre of Epidavros and Nafplion). All these places were absolutely fabulous. I wouldn’t have missed any. But what makes these days unforgettable is the whole sailing experience Giorgos-our skipper-couldn’t have been better. He was not only an ideal captain, making us feel secure from the first moment, but he also speaks perfect English and German. We will never forget the discussions we had and how good he was in teaching us sailing and helping us to choose according our interests what to do to make the experience unforgettable. Overall a lifetime experience.

This is really an alternative way to spend a day in Athens. At a reasonable cost we went with some friends and loved it. The boat was nice and comfortable for 8 persons and Captain Giorgos was very kind and friendly. On the way to Aegina we had a quite relaxing trip. We made two stops. The first was in Agia Marina. It`s a small village and a few kilometers away we visited the impressive ancient temple of Aphaia. Then we stopped for swimming and snorkelling in a beautiful bay of a nearby islet. The way back was quite exciting because it became windy. We sailed all the way to Athens and we really enjoyed this experience. Overall I would highly recommend this daytrip to anyone visiting Athens.

Sailing with George and his yacht was so great! Not only this is his yacht, which he maintains with care. It is also obvious he loves sailing, that's why he actually creates a genuine sailing experience for his passengers. Lastly, if one wishes to play a role beyond that of a passenger, and participate actively as part of the sailing crew, George not only accepts it, but he becomes a great teacher. Whether you want a lazy experience or an adventurous participation, George is an excellent choice! Needless to say he is so friendly and polite, that you want to do it again next year.

Α one day sailing trip from Athens

 Aegina, the nearest of the Saronic Gulf islands to Athens (only 17 nm), seems a world away from the urban hustle of the city. With its pretty neoclassical buildings, important ancient sites from classical times (Aphaia and Apollo Temple) and surrounded by crystal clear waters it is an ideal getaway option for the visitor with limited time, who wants to get a taste of the island life and have a relaxing day by the sea.

You will spend the day according to your preferences and the weather conditions: Drop the anchor in unspoiled coves with turquoise waters to swim and snorkel and visit ancient sites like the temple of Aphaia or the charming port town of Aegina.

By 5 pm we set sails again towards Athens, enjoying with a glass of wine the spectacular sunset over the Saronic and the views of Salamina island, Piraeus and Athens as we approach.

Visit the gorgeous Aphaia Temple

This temple, surrounded by pine trees, is considered one of the most important temples of Greece and is part of an equilateral ‘Holy Triangle’ of temples including the Athenian Parthenon and the temple of Poseidon at Sounion. It is located 3km uphill from the port, either reachable on foot or with taxi.

Discover the port town of Aegina

Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, stroll around the narrow paved streets and beautiful alleys. Enjoy fresh fish or an ouzo in a local taverna, and finally don’t forget to get a bag of pistachios. It’s a delicious local product and this variety is considered to be the best in the Mediterranean.

Alegria yacht description.

Offered by DMA Yachting, the astonishing charter yacht ALEGRIA is a 45 ft sailing catamaran. The most appealing features of ALEGRIA are her well-chosen interiors and experienced crew. ALEGRIA spends the summer and winter season in Greece. She was constructed by recognized shipbuilder Fountaine Pajot in 2021. The expansive yacht layout features 4 large cabins and comfortably accommodates a maximum of 8 guests.

ALEGRIA is presented primarily as a sailing catamaran. The the heart of the yacht is the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck features a variety of seating areas and usually it is where you, as a charter guest, spend most of your time. The fascinating cabins are connected by stairs to the main saloon - roomy, comfortable and pleasant. The cabins are located in the 2 massive hulls. Multiple portholes connect you with the outside world.

The sailboat features ENGINES 2 X 60 HP VOLVO GENERATOR ONAN 10 KWA engines .

Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Snorkeling equipment is included for sailing, snorkeling and whale watching tours. Snorkeling is best for the morning and early afternoon departures due to better lighting and visibility however if you would like to snorkel prior to the sunset you are welcome to do so.

We require 72-hours cancellation notice prior to your tour to refund your deposit. If the weather is bad, we will do our best to reschedule your tour or reimburse 100% of your deposit through PayPal in U.S. dollars. No-shows are charged 100%.

Cabo Sails check-in office is in Plaza Gali. Ask your driver to drop you off at the OXXO market across the street from the Sandos Finisterra Hotel. Walk a short distance into Plaza Gali and our check-in office is located on the right side of the plaza. We recommend taking a taxi instead of driving a rental car because the parking lots near our location are usually full. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your tour departure time.
