Motor yacht LUNA is the newest and largest luxury expedition superyacht in the world. Superyacht Luna has just recently been launched, finished and delivered to her owner by the German shipyard Lloyd Weft and has been cruising in France , Italy and Mediterranean . An impressive yacht in many regards, the huge 115 metre explorer yacht Luna has raised the bar for private yachts of her size and type. She is a functional superyacht which has been designed and built for world exploration in remote areas, as evidenced by her ship like powerful lines, but she is also very much a luxury yacht which can provide her guests with ultimate comfort. Yacht LUNA was the second largest private yacht launched in 2009, after mega yacht ECLIPSE .

Lloydwerft is a commercial ship builder in Bremerhaven, Germany and superyacht LUNA was jointly constructed in a collaboration between the Lloydwerft and Stahlbau Nord Shipyards. The Luxury yacht LUNA has an interior designed by the distinguished designer Donald Starkey . Her innovative exterior styling was designed by Newcruise Design which is a Hamburg based company which has been involved in several large German newbuild superyachts. NEWCRUISE are a Yacht Projects Design company which was involved in the project from its inception and the initial visualisation and profile appearance right through to the yacht’s deck organisation, the layout, lighting, exterior detailing and detailing such as the furniture arrangements and colour briefs.

In true expedition style, the yacht features an expansive open main aft deck space which can be utilised as a platform for many different activities and being a luxury yacht Luna accommodates a large swimming pool and generous sunning and entertaining areas here. Further aft,  she also has a spacious swimming and water activity platform which creates a yacht to water interface where guests can easily get close to the water despite the yachts size.

M/Y Luna also has aft transom doors which lead to the yacht’s tender and water toy garage and exploration equipment and housing such items is one of the specific purposes of super yacht LUNA. Her large, open aft deck also features a large swimming pool and sunbathing areas with a dedicated open luxury leisure area featuring a beach club leading down to the swim platform. The yacht has huge aft door which can be opened at anchor as well as two tender and equipment launching side doors on the aft of her hull.

There is little doubt that the luxury expedition megayacht Luna unrivalled. She is an expedition yacht very much in her own class. She stands head and shoulders above those other superyachts in her class. She was created to enable an adventurous yacht owner to cruise huge distances and explorer the world’s oceans without frequently having to stop or refuel. As an expedition yacht, Luna can navigate challenging sea ways and weather conditions as well as providing first class luxury yacht amenities and style.

The massive 115 m explorer yacht Luna raises the bar for private motoryachts of her size and type. Superyacht Luna has just recently been launched, finished and delivered to her owner in June 2010 by the German shipyard Lloyd Weft. Her interior is styled by British designer design house Evan K Marshall and she was completed in 2019. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Evan K Marshall.

Luna has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 3 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with grp/teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V2000) 1,920hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 18 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 21 knots. Her water tanks store around 1,704 Litres of fresh water.

66m Oceanco motor yacht Luna B sold

The 66-metre motor yacht Luna B has been sold with Vesa Kaukonen of Large Yacht Corp , representing the seller and Matt Albert of Superyacht Partners representing the buyer.

Luna B started life as Dilbar and was delivered by Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 2005. She was built in steel and aluminium with a classic canoe stern and had an extensive 16-month rebuild completed in 2020. 

An interior by the late Alberto Pinto offers accommodation for up to 16 guests in eight cabins including a full-beam master suite with its own lounge, double-sided drop-down television screen and adjoining private office. The remaining guest accommodation comprises a VIP suite, four doubles and two extra cabins for guests or staff. 

The 1,801 GT Luna B  has had great success as a charter yacht thanks to her vast exterior decks and interior arrangement. One highlight in particular is her beamy sundeck accommodating a 19,000-litre pool and a helipad that transforms into a sun lounge. An exterior dining table that seats up to 18-guests and an outdoor cinema set-up complete this level and boost her charter appeal.

Inside, the main-deck saloon is finished in macassar, ebony and sycamore wood panelling with nickel-plated accents and large picture windows. A second lounge is found above with two lounge areas, a bar and an office space with floor-to-ceiling vertical windows.

Luna B 's tender garage houses four as-new rebuilt tenders. Her top speed is 15 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles at 13 knots with power coming from two 3,015hp Deutz-MWM SBV12M628 diesel engines.

Luna B was last asking €42,500,000.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
